Here in the Philippines blackouts are inevitable and most of the people get crazy when there is no electricity. Yes, I am one of those vast majority who might almost kill a person if there is no power.
However, today is quite different because I am on a conscious journey of getting rid of the things that eat the majority of my time. You are correct it includes gadgets, television and computers, I came to a conclusion that it is not the loss of electricity that most people are mad at it is the things that they cannot do without electricity. But why do we react that way? My answer would be maybe because we cannot use the comfort that technology offers us. But what are those important things? Television Series? Facebook? Twitter? Games?
Well let me share my experience regarding this, I became a minimalist on August 10, 2016 and from there on I am enjoying the things in life that majority of the people cannot because of their so called “important things” in their “busy lives”. When I started becoming a minimalist these are the things that I enjoy now and it includes taking care of my child, drinking my coffee, reading and writing. Take note that it did not include anything that has to do with technology. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying that technology is bad, but please take a look around maybe the things that are important to you is not connected to technology. I don’t want you to miss the important things in life, like I don’t want to miss mine.
Let me end this article with a quote:
